Open wall (2x4) panelization is the most popular form of building system, increasing from 7% of all housing at 105,000 homes in 1997 to 13% or 230,000 homes in 2002, according to Craig Adair, director of market research for APA--The Engineer Wood Association (Tacoma, WA).

Building systems technologies continue to capture a greater share of all nationwide construction activity, thanks to a growing number of lenders, builders and buyers recognizing the inherent advantages over conventional site building.
